Basketball? You might as well meet your opponents and winners of this
year's league while watching the final game KANSAS Vs MEMPHIS at
Playwright. Food provided, and prizes will be given to the bracket

* HELP KIDS LEARN ABOUT DNA! / (04-07-2008 )/
Volunteers needed to help students learn about DNA at the Peabody
museum. From April 4th -11th, over 500 West Haven middle school
students will take part in a hands-on DNA activity in which they
isolate DNA from their own cheek cells and encase it in glass
lockets. Volunteers work in 1 hour blocks so sign up for as little
or as much time as you'd like. Please go to the following link to

* MCDOUGAL FELLOWS WANTED! / (04-07-2008 )/
Grad Student Life @ the McDougal Center is accepting applications now
for grad/prof students interested in being a Fellow in a variety of
program areas for the 2008-09 academic year. Fellows produce peer-led
programs to enhance student life, including arts & music, blue dog
cafe, international, family, public service, social, sports, health &
wellness, and more. The workload is a manageable 5-8 hrs a week, and
besides being the cool kids that everyone wants to be, Fellows
receive an honorarium for their service. Contact a friendly
neighborhood McDougal Fellow to inquire, or check out the McDougal

full-time registered grad or prof student in 08-09 to apply. Online

* IN THE COMPANY OF SCHOLARS LECTURE - GAME THEORY FOR HUMANISTS /

The Graduate School?s final ?In the Company of Scholars? lecture for
the 2007-2008 academic year will be given by Benjamin Polak,
Professor of Economics and Management. Professor Polak?s talk, ?Game
Theory for Humanists,? will take place at 4:00 PM tomorrow, Tuesday,
April 8 in HGS 119. A reception will follow in the McDougal Center
Common Room.

Drinks will be served! "Human Jukebox" Derrick Wang takes requests
from the piano for you to sing. Sing solos, sing with friends, or

Are you a graduate or professional student artist looking to display
your art and maybe even sell a piece to benefit charity? From April
18 to April 21 the McDougal Center will be holding a graduate student
art gallery with the sponsorship of GPSS. The Gallery, which will
feature an opening wine and cheese reception, a bagal brunch and a
silent auction to benefit the New Haven/Leon Sister City Project
(http://www.newhavenleon.org/), will feature the art (in a variety of
media) and handicrafts of Yale grad students. You can submit up to 2
pieces of your work to be displayed by registering online at

work to HGS 123 on April 11, 2008 between 12 pm and 8 pm and signing

Although Hillary may not be the harbinger of a post-feminist victory,
the winners of the Steve Horvath Fishing Derby suggest an evolution of
that once male-dominated activity. In all three age categories the
best fisher-people were girls! On another note, the New Haven Free
Public Library has a number of cool workshops for kids ages 3-12,

* DIVIDED WE FALL VIEWING / (04-07-2008 7:00 PM)/
Come see the documentary Divided We Fall that has media outlets like
NPR, BBC and CNN talking. "This must-see film" has been praised as
"a moving portrait of one of America's rawest periods, and grips the
viewer from its very first scenes." The film documents hate crimes
against Sikhs, Muslims and others after 9/11, and examines how
Americans react to the perceived "other" in times of war. Filmmaker
Valarie Kaur traveled through 14 American cities, from Ground Zero in
New York to Sodhi's gas station in Arizona, and captured more than 100
hours of interview footage. People invited her into their lives to
share stories of fear and unspeakable loss, but also of resilience
and hope. Kaur will be available for Q&A after the screening. Check

* BEGINNING ZEN MEDITATION / (04-07-2008 8:15 - 9:30 PM)/
At this meeting, held in HGS 119B, we will include instruction for
beginners in Zazen (Zen meditation) and other basic mind/body
training. This is the regular meeting time/place of Mujushin Zen
Dojo (mujushin.org), a group that practices Zen in the Rinzai
tradition at Yale. The first meeting of each month will be open to
beginners. If you would like to attend, please contact
mujushin at mujushin.org so that we can make enough supplies available.
This training is made possible with the support of the McDougal
Center.

* HIRSHBERG TALK / (04-09-2008 4:15 PM)/
Gary Hirshberg, President and CE-Yo of Stonyfiield Farm, the world's
largest organic yogurt company, will be on campus Wednesday, April 9,
to deliver a lecture jointly sponsored by the Gordon Grand Fellowship
and the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy. Hirshberg will
take a look at a number of companies with earth-friendly strategies
that also have health bottom lines in a talk entitled "Stirring It
Up: How to Make Money and Save the World." This is also the title of
Hirshberg's new book. The lecture will take place at 4:15 pm in Luce
Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue. A reception follows featuring Stonyfield
Farm products and other organic treats follows.
