financial planning info sessions at the McDougal Center. No

useful techniques borrowed from multiple martial arts that could help

Come celebrate graduate student art at the McDougal Center's Grad
Gallery 2008. The gallery, co-sponsored by GPSS, will be open for
viewing in HGS 119 from Friday, April 18 at 5:00 pm to Monday, April
21 at 4 pm. Gallery Hours Sat & Sun 11am-11pm. Many of the featured
items are also available to be bid upon as part of a silent auction
with the proceeds to benefit the New Haven/Leon Sister City Project.
Also exhibited are winning photos from the McDougal International
Fellows/OISS Spring Break Photo Contest.

* MARKUS AND MEISHA'S INTERNATIONAL TIP OF THE WEEK
Are you interested in working with international students? The OISS
will be hiring three G&P students to assist in welcoming and
orienting newly-arrived incoming international students. The two main
areas of responsibility are helping to plan and execute orientation
programs and events for new graduate and professional students, and
assistance with check-in as the new students arrive at OISS. For more

* LAURA'S HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK
Interested in health? PBS is currently airing a 7 part original
documentary called "Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?"
which explores racial and socioeconomic inequalities in health. The
show airs on Thursday nights at 10pm on Channel 24 or you can catch
screenings by other groups around campus like at the African American
Center. Don't miss this important insight into the US healthcare
system!
* PATRICIA AND GINA'S PUBLIC SERVICE TIP OF THE WEEK
Use your spring cleaning urge for good! Donate gently used clothing,
toys, and books to the Salvation Army and get a tax deduction.

* SUSAN'S KIDS AND FAMILY TIP OF THE WEEK
Spring is here! While fruitlessly searching for my Connecticut Rail
Trails book, I noticed I can now get all the information I need,
FREE, on-line at http://www.traillink.com/home.aspx. Rail trails are
a really great way to safely enjoy the outdoors with your family. You
can take a stroller and walk, bicycle, Cross Country Ski, In-line
Skate, and even fish. A really great trail in our own back yard is
the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail which can be accessed off of
Sherman Avenue or Todd Street. Combine it with a farm visit en route
at Brooksvale Park and your day is made! For maps and further info

Always say you're going to volunteer but never find the time? We have
the solution for you: YCC Community Service Day on Saturday, April 26.
This university-wide community service event makes volunteering easy,
convenient, and fun. Meet at the McDougal Center Common Room (in HGS;
320 York St.) at 9 am for a free breakfast, and then you'll be
transported to your service site. You'll volunteer on your project
until 12:45 pm and then be taken back to campus. Pre-registration is

Participants will be given free T-shirts. So round up a group of
friends, sign up online, and come have a good time while serving our
community!

scientific papers with our special guest speaker Dr. Susan Baserga,
Dept of MB&B and Genetics and Therapeutic Radiology. "Dr. Baserga
will discuss, with audience participation, the importance of writing
scientific papers at each stage of your career. She will present her
framework for how she approaches writing original research articles.
Tips on dealing with "writer's block" and suggestions on how to
