Subject: Fishman on Tshernovits

The presentations by Joshua A. Fishman on "The 100th Anniversary of the 
Tshernovits Yiddish Language Conference". The internationally well-known 
sociolinguist Joshua A. Fishman wil be the keynoter, in Yiddiish, of next 
week's (August 18, 2008) 100th anniversary of the history-making 
Tshernovits Yiddiish Language Conference of 1908 in Czernowitz, Moldova. A 
DVD pf his talk is now available from the Forverts (write to 
<gottesman at Yiddish.Forward,com>) and will appear in the Forverts itself on 
the very day that it is being presented in Tshernovits. An English 
translation of his talk will appear as an Editorial in the International 
Journal of the Sociology of Language, 2008, nr. 193.
