MENDELE Personal Notices and Announcements

3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has 

posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

װי אויך דעם עלטערערן, געלעגנהײטן זיך אויסצולעבן אויף ייִדיש

ייִדיש־װאָך 2009 (אױגוסט דעם 25סטן – 31סטן) איז אַזאַ זעלטענע געלעגנהײַט.

מער װי 30 יאָר, איז ייִדיש־װאָך מצליח אין צוציען פּאָרלעך, יחידים און 
ייִדיש־רעדנדיקע משפּחות פֿאַר אַן אידעאַלער װאָך אין אונדזער «ייִדישלאַנד» אין די 
בערקשיר בערג.

אַלע אַקטיװיטעטן זענען אויף ייִדיש, צװישן זיי׃ ספּאָרט, פֿאָלקסטענץ, לעקציעס, 
דיסקוסיעס, לייענקרײַזן, לאַגער־פֿײַערן, אַ טאַלאַנטאַרניע, קאָנצערטן, פֿילמען, און 
ספּעציעלע אַקטיװיטעטן. (ס׳איז אויך דאָ אַ טאָג־טעגלעכער ייִדיש־קלאַס פֿאַר 
אַװאַנסירטע אָנהייבערס!)

קינדער פֿון קליינס ביז גרויס האָבן הנאה פֿון די אויפֿגעפּאַסטע פּראָגראַמען פֿון 
שפּילן, זינגען, האַנטאַרבעט, און פּראָיעקטן, בשעת זײ אַנטװיקלען זײער 
שפּראַך־קענטענישן. יעדע קינדער-גרופּע האָט פּראָגראַמען װאָס זענען צוגעפּאַסט צו 
זײער עלטער.

דער לאַגער באַרימט זיך מיט זײער שװימבאַסײן און בילדערישע אָזערע װוּ מען קען 
זיך שיפֿלען און שװימען. קױש־באָל, הילקע־פּילקע, און אַרױסשפּאַצירן אין װאַלד 
זענען עטלעכע פֿון די פּאָפּולערע דרױסנדיקע אַקטיװיטעטן אויף דער ייִדיש־װאָך.

דאָס עסן איז כּשר, מיט װעגעטאַרישע ברירות. אַן אָרטאָדאָקסישער משגיח פּאַסט אױף 
אױף אַלע מאָלצײַטן דורך דער װאָך. שבת זענען דאַװענען אי טראַדיציאָנעלע 
(אָרטאָדאָקסישע), אי עגאַליטערישע־קאָנסערװאַטיװע מנינים, און ס׳איז אױך דאָ 
װעלטלעכע אַקטיװיטעטן.

יוגנטרוף איז אַן אמתע געזעלשאַפֿט פֿון ייִדיש־רעדערס, סטודענטן, פּראָפֿעסאָרן, 
קינסטלערס, אַקטיװיסטן, שרײַבערס, און מוזיקערס. אונדזערע יוגנטרוף מיטגלידער 
האַלטן לעקציעס, טרעטן אויף, און פֿירן אָן מיט די װאַרשטאַטן און דיסקוסיעס כּדי 
זיך צו צעטײלן מיט זײער קענטעניש, טאַלאַנט, און ליבע פֿאַר מאַמע־לשון. אױף דער 
ייִדיש־װאָך קומען אַ סך גרױסע ייִדיש־מומחים און ־טאַלאַנטן, איז די פּראָגראַם 
תּמיד אַן ערשטקלאַסישע. ס׳איז אַן איבערלעבונג װאָס איר װעט נישט געפֿינען אין 
קײן אַנדער אָרט.

The goal of Yugntruf: Youth for Yiddish is to provide the younger 
generation — and the young at heart — with unique opportunities for 
Yiddish immersion.

Yidish-Vokh 2009 (August 25th – 31st) is just one of those truly unique 
opportunities.

After more than 30 years, our Yidish-vokh summer camp continues to draw 
couples, singles, students, and families for an idyllic week in our 
“Yiddishland” in the Berkshire Mountains.

All Yidish-vokh activities are in Yiddish: lectures, sports, folk 
dancing, discussions, singing around the campfire, reading groups, an 
amateur talent show, concerts, films, and special events. (Yiddish 
classes are offered for advanced beginners!)

Children from toddlers to teens enjoy age-appropriate, supervised 
programs of games, songs, crafts, and projects while building Yiddish 
language skills.

The camp also boasts both a swimming pool and picturesque lake for 
boating, canoeing, and swimming. Basketball, baseball, hiking, and 
leisurely walks in the woods are some of the popular Yidish-vokh’s 
outdoor experiences.

The food is kosher, with vegetarian options; an Orthodox mashgiakh 
oversees all meals througout the week. Egalitarian-Conservative and 
Orthodox Shabes services are also available along with secular 
activities on Saturday morning.

Yidish-vokh is a genuine community of Yiddish speakers, students, 
professors, activists, writers, and musicians. Our Yugntruf members give 
the lectures, perform, and lead the discussions and workshops so that 
they can share their knowledge, talent, and love of mame-loshn. It’s an 
experience you’ll never get anywhere else.
