To save wear and tear on the untershames, please comply with these four
requests:
1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.
2. Send material as plain text: no HTML, other coding, or attachments.
3. Write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line.
4. To respond, contact the person who or organization which has posted the
notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

Subject: Yiddish Diary translation
LOOKING FOR A YIDDISH TRANSLATOR
While living in Paris in 1920, my grandfather Solomon, wrote a 274 page
"memoir" of his life in Yiddish.
He was born in Bendzin, Poland in 1898 and by the time he was 15 he was
orphaned. In 1914, with no money or employment prospects, he walked out of
his hometown to try to give himself a better life. He already had other
family members living in America. It took him 6 years to get to the U.S.
via Hungary, Germany and France. He lived in Paris for several years
before arriving at Ellis Island in New York on June 4, 1921.
Of course my family would love to read his words and learn details of his
story. We also have no doubt that many others will want to hear his story
as well.
If you are a Yiddish translator or know someone who may be interested in
participating in this project, please contact me at:
