Mendele Personal Notices & Announcements

April 30, 2013

To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:

1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.

2. Send material as plain text to victor.bers at yale.edu as plain text (no
HTML, other coding, or attachments and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the
subject line.

3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has posted
the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

I am writing my dissertation about the author Sarah Feiga Foner nee
Meinkin, who lived in 1854-1937 in Latvia, Poland, England and the
U.S.

She wrote mostly in Hebrew, but her Yiddish novella "Der Froyen Bunt"
is found in the National Library in Jerusalem.

According to Chayim Leib Fuchs, Foner also published short stories in
Yiddish newspapers, and translated to Yiddish one of her Hebrew books.
Fuchs indicates that she used the pseudonyms Sheina Feiga M. and a
Dvinskern.

I could not find such stories or translation in my research, and will
be very grateful for any additional information about Foner Meinkin's
Yiddish writings.

Thank you in advance,

Michal Cohen
