[nativestudies-l] Proposed CT Commission on Indian Affairs

I would like to alert the folks on this list to an effort here in CT.  A group of Indians and our non-Indian friends have been working toward the creation of a CT Commission on Indian Affairs.  During this General Assembly HB 5141 is the mechanism to make this happen.

Shelly Lowe and Alyssa Mt. Pleasant at Yale have graciously offered to host a public forum on the bill and the work of the group.  The exact date and time will be determined soon.  It will most likely be a weekday evening.  I'm sure they will promote the event here.

There is a link to Project Vote Smart where you can enter your nine-digit zip code to find out.  It would be so kind of you to drop your elected officials an email asking them to support HB 5141 AND to co-sponsor it.
