The University of New Mexico seeks to establish a tenure-track faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level in Native American Studies. This is a full-time appointment in the Native American Studies Program, housed in University College. The successful candidate will teach in the Native American Studies program and work collaboratively with other faculty to develop and deliver curricula which supports the Native Leadership and Self Determination concentration in the Bachelor's of Arts degree in Native Studies. It is expected that the successful candidate will also actively mentor, advise, tutor, and guide both Native American and non-Native American students in the program.

Minimum Qualifications:
*                     Applicant must possess a Ph.D. in a Social Science discipline such as American Studies, Native American Studies, Sociology, and Political Science or a related field.

Desired Qualifications:
*                     Specialization in Social Science research and implementation related to American Indian social issues, leadership studies and/or community development.
*                     Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.
*                     Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
*                     Ability to obtain grant funding as demonstrated by previous post-doctoral awards or successful grant applications.
