UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, GAINESVILLE
The Florida Museum of Natural History (University of Florida) is recruiting
for a Coordinator of Museum Operations to manage its Collections of
Vertebrate Paleontology. Competitive applicants will possess knowledge of
Vertebrate Osteology and Taxonomy, as well as Curatorial Policies and
Procedures. Museum experience, paleontological field work, and managerial
skills are essential backgrounds.
Duties include assisting resident and visiting scholars; conserving and
maintaining fossil collections; overseeing computerized catalog of ¼
million entries; supervising curatorial assistants, students, and
volunteers; communicating with an active amateur community; and providing
logistical support for regional field work.
Minimum qualifications are a Masters degree in an appropriate area of
specialization or Bachelors degree in same and 2 years experience. An
advanced degree in zoology, paleontology or geology is preferred. This
person serves under the curator of vertebrate paleontology. Salary begins
in the low to mid 30's, commensurate with experience and includes standard
state benefits package.
