The Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia is seeking a Research Assistant to work in the Vertebrate Zoology Department.  The successful candidate for this full-time exempt status position will conduct NSF-supported research on the molecular genetics of clonal salamanders, as well as day to day supporting laboratory activities 

Duties: Carry out laboratory experiments as directed by the PIs, make appropriate observations and maintain organized, detailed records of procedures and data. Assist in analysis of data, including library research, data entry, preparation of data charts and carrying out analysis as directed. Procure supplies under supervision of the PIs. Maintain equipment in good working order and operate it in a safe manner. Carry out specific projects as assigned. 

Qualifications: At least a Bachelor's degree in biology; Master's degree preferred; experience may be adequate substitute.
Two years laboratory experience in molecular biology, preferably including experience in DNA sequencing and preparation of
cDNA and genomic libraries; interest in evolutionary/systematic biology; familiarity with computers, including experience with DNA analysis and graphics programs desired. Good organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to work independently are essential.
