"INVERTEBRATE ZOOLOGY COLLECTION MANAGER
Job Classification: Manager Invertebrate Zoology Collection
Minimal Qualifications: A Master's degree in museum studies or in a
relevant field of biology or a Bachelor's degree plus at least two years of
zoological collections management experience.
Duties: The primary responsibility of the Collection Manager is the daily
management and conservation of the invertebrate collections (exclusive of
insects and arachnids). The collections consist primarily of molluscs
(over 700,000 specimens) with minor holdings of most other invertebrate
phyla. Specific duties include the following: specimen preparation,
cataloguing (manual and electronic), systematic arrangement, storage, and
conservation of specimens and archival materials; routine management
(correspondence, assistance to scientific visitors, response to requests
for information, preparation and shipment of loans); maintenance and
assistance with the design of computerized specimen databases; assistance
with developing computerized access tools for the databases; local
community service (inquiries, liaison with university courses, K-12
schools, and local naturalists' groups); assistance in preparation of grant
proposals to upgrade collections; assistance in supervision of graduate
assistants, work-study students, and volunteers; collections-related field
work.

Salary: This is a 75% time position. Salary is $26,000-$27,000 per year
plus excellent benefits.
