Bioscience Collections Manager (Museum Technician and Conservator-B)

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (NMMNH&S) is seeking a
Bioscience Collection Manager to oversee approximately 31,000 vertebrate,
invertebrate, and plant specimens.  Education:  graduation from an
accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in
Biology or a related field.  Experience:  two-years experience in museum
registration work and knowledge of overseeing a bio-prep facility including
experience in mammal, bird, and plant preparation, dermestid colony
maintenance and all tasks associated with a prep lab facility.  Description:
specialized museum work in managing and maintaining the permanent and loan
collections at the NMMNH&S.  Involves management and data entry of
computerized records; cataloging and inventory control of all collection
objects; packing and shipping; management of incoming and outgoing loans;
evaluation of collection conservation needs and implementation of long-range
collections care plan; maintenance of storage facilities; supervision of
volunteers; public presentation and tours of collections; and ordering
supplies.  Knowledge and experience of Access relational database software
required.  Starting salary up to $32,240 with an additional 35% in state
benefits.
