Does anyone maintain a collection of hailstones or other meteorological items?

We have a model of a hailstone that I am trying to add to our electronic collection database. I'm not sure I'd even catalog it, but that was done many years ago and it is in our hard catalog. The problem I'm having now is how to classify it. I tentatively planned on placing it two different taxonomies: one as if it were a real hailstone; another just as a display model. So, how to you classify a hailstone? I'm too used to biological systems and am lost. Something equivalent to a kingdom = water? Any suggestions are welcomed.
