The conference time is fast approaching so get on “The
Road to Productive Partnerships” and join us in
Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Joint Annual Meeting of
the Society for the Preservation of Natural History
Collections (SPNHC) and the Natural Science Collections
Alliance (NSCA), 23-27 May 2006.

For those who haven’t yet registered for the conference,
there is still time to do so but don’t delay. There are a
few openings for the pre-conference field trips and the
Thursday evening banquet. And for those who have signed
up for field trips, you will be contacted soon by the trip
organizers with additional information about meeting times
and places.

Accommodations: the SPNHC-NSCA block of reserved rooms at
the headquarters hotel, the Hotel Albuquerque, has been
filled. We recommend the Best Western Rio Grande Inn
Albuquerque, only 0.2 miles away, or one of the other
hotel options listed on the meeting website
<http://www.msb.unm.edu/meetings/SPNHC-NSCA2006/hotel.html>.
Not listed but another option is the Econo Lodge Old Town
(2321 Central Avenue NW; 505-243-8475). It's less than a
10 minute walk to the headquarters hotel and reasonably
priced with good-sized rooms (thanks A. Pinzl).

Workshops: The morning workshops on Data quality and data
cleaning (workshop #1) and the Ins and outs of imaging for
museum collections (workshop #2) have been filled but
there are a few seats left in the afternoon sessions as
well as in the morning workshop on Arctos: a biodiversity
informatics tool. The all-day workshop on Becoming a GBIF
provider has been cancelled (workshop #4).

For those making presentations (talks or posters) please
go to the Abstracts and Presentation link
<http://www.msb.unm.edu/meetings/SPNHC-NSCA2006/talks.html>
for additional information.

Please check out the conference website to see the
schedule and titles for all talks and poster
presentations. Additional information on the special
sessions is found at
<http://www.msb.unm.edu/meetings/SPNHC-NSCA2006/sessions.html>.
A list of vendors attending the Tradeshow and map of the
booth locations can be found on the Tradeshow link.

We look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque! Happy
travels.
