Subject: The Natural History of Selborne by Gilbert White

In the late 90’s I produced an unabridged recording of Gilbert White’s classic ‘The Natural History of Selborne.’

I went on to find a distributor and within two weeks of release the company had gone into liquidation.

Roughly 2 years of planning had been blown into the weeds.

However, last Friday finally saw the release of this audio book title as a download and after all the work I have put into this project I’m sure you can understand why I am contacting organizations such as yours.

During the 6 year period since the title first surfaced, I have kept in touch with The Gilbert White Museum and I have promised them 3% royalties from all download sales of the book.

The download is available from www.spokennetwork.co.uk <http://www.spokennetwork.co.uk/> priced ₤19.99, and from www.spokennetwork.com <http://www.spokennetwork.com/> for $29.99, which for nearly 11 hours worth of listening is pretty good value. We have also included all the Latin translations, which were kindly given to me by Julian Reynolds, the then Head of Biology at Trinity College, Dublin.

If you can think of anyone who may be interested in linking with our website www.gilbertwhiteselborne.com <http://www.gilbertwhiteselborne.com/> please do not hesitate to contact me. Currently that particular site shows the title available as a box-set. This information will be altered and updated shortly as all pricings are now out of date and irrelevant.

Many apologies for the “cold call,” but I’m sure you can imagine my relief and excitement at finally seeing this project come to fruition.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

All suggestions welcome.

Yours sincerely,

John Mayfield

Producer “The Natural History of Selborne.”
