Hello list,

We have a small "marine life" collection consisting of corals, sponges,
starfish, sand dollars, etc. We are a general museum and do not have anyone
with a science background on our staff. I'm familiar with shells, but are
there any storage concerns that relate to coral/sponge collections? Also,
when collecting items of this type, do you clean them or keep them in their
natural state? How would one clean them? Finally, are there any good
reference materials for the identification of these items?

Much thanks,

Sarah Swain
