Job Posting: Curator II, Natural History, Ohio Historical Society.

The Ohio Historical Society is seeking a full-time Curator II in its
Museum & Library Services Division.

 

This position oversees Natural History work within the unit. Examples of
responsibilities include:

*	Collections acquisition, processing, cataloging, computer input
of data and care.
*	Interpretation of collections for both scientific and public
venues, including publications, exhibits, and public programming.
*	Aiding the public with identification of natural objects.
*	Assisting direction of and implementation of land management at
OHS natural areas.
*	Planning and implementation of new trails and trail repairs at
OHS natural areas.
*	Works closely with a number of site partners in the management
and interpretation of OHS natural history sites.

The Ohio Historical Society's natural history collections currently
include more than 29,000 specimens in our direct care, plus 215,000
specimens on long-term loan to the Ohio State University. Our natural
areas include several Dedicated State Nature Preserves and National
Natural Landmarks. More information on the collections and the natural

Applicants should possess a Masters degree in some discipline of natural
history (botany, ornithology, herpetology, geology, etc.) and have 3 to
5 years work experience in natural history collections, research or
public education.

 

A thorough knowledge of the natural history of Ohio or equivalent region
as well as computer skills with word processing and databases are
desired. The applicant should be accustomed to and capable of field work
in all sorts of weather and conditions. The primary work site will be
the OHS center in Columbus, with occasional travel and work at OHS sites
around Ohio.
