We are looking for someone interested in a tenure track bio education position here at SCSU.
Although interests can be diverse, we are specifically looking for someone who wants to focus on bio education pedagogy as their main area of research.

Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:  This position seeks an individual with a passion for science education. The candidate should have a strong interest in biology pedagogy and is expected to advise biology teaching certification students as well as assist in conducting program reviews for the biology department.  The position is expected to teach some combination of the following:  non-majors and/or majors introductory courses (including labs) in genetics, zoology, botany, microbiology and/or human biology; and/or upper level majors or graduate courses in their area of specialization.  Position will have a role in coordinating labs for non-majors and service courses.  The candidate will advise all biology certification education majors.

The successful candidate must be committed to teaching within a vibrant public liberal arts and sciences environment and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring and research with undergraduates.  All faculty at SCSU share in academic advising and participate in department/university service.  Nominal teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester.

Tenure-track faculty at SCSU are expected to conduct creative activity/research in their area of expertise.  These activities include, but are not limited to research leading to publication of books and/or articles in academic and professional journals, performances in the fine and performing arts, efforts to seek funding in support of research and teaching needs, and contributions to workshops and conferences.

Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Biology or an Ed.D. in Biology Education is required. Candidates must have experience teaching at the college/university level and should have experience with pedagogical research in the biological sciences (K-12 and/or higher education).

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants with experience teaching at a university of similar profile with one or more years of postdoctoral experience. However, applicants with recent publications and grant funding will be considered if ABD, but must have an earned doctorate by May 2017. A record of scholarship, recent external funding for research, and experience teaching genetics and microbiology will be highly ranked. One or more years experience with teaching and/or outreach to K-12 students will also be valued in a candidate.
