I'd like to hear from the group about preferred quick methods (other than
smelling) for determining the chemical nature of preserving fluid (formalin
or ethanol, mixtures). Our specimens date back to the mid-19th century and
likely include Kaiserling formulas and fluids typically used in medical
museums. Any preference for particular products would be helpful (aldehyde
test strips, etc.) as well as any other suggested tests to be performed.
Thanks,
Brian
