Thank you very much for all that help me about my question, I will try to answer you briefly.

Simon Moore: yes, I don't know if the dolphin is painted. Maybe yes, but the product (grease or some kind of varnish) doesn't seems to drag paint. The specimen is a very old one, because it appears in a 1850 catalogue. I don't know if in those days taxidermists use paints.

William Sheperd: we can try to obtain an spectrometer to know what kind of product is the "grease". It's a good idea. I don't think that the grease or fat is due to changes in the temperature or similar. Specimen was stored in same conditions last years, and people who knows it since 50 years, they always remember it as "greasy".

Steve Halford: A local taxidermist wants to apply Borax to remove the grease, but I don't want to apply anything before a good data collection. As you say, solvents are unsuccesfull.

Julian Carter: Yes, we can try to clean the basis. As I commented before, basis could be valuable due to it's age. Wood restoration could be necessary .

Giulia and Marta, I send you a mail with the data you asked for.

Thanks again

Sergio
