Join Instructor Sarah Sutton author of Is Your Museum Grant-Ready? for this 4 week long online course, which is designed for professionals either learning or reviewing their skills in raising money through grants. How to Develop a Code of Ethics for Your Museum begins Feb 5 on MuseumStudy.com Join instructor Sally Yerkovich January 3 for the 4 week online course How to Develop a Code of Ethics for Your Museum. The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) includes a code of ethics as one of the five core documents that it declares "fundamental for basic professional museum operations." AAM states that these documents "embody core museum values and practices." By examining codes of ethics and exploring the principles that they include, this course is a preparation for creating your institution's code.

Managing Previously Unmanaged Collections online course begins Feb 5 on MuseumStudy.com Join instructor Angela Kipp for the 4 week online course Managing Previously Unmanaged Collections. Working with a previously unmanaged collection is one of the most challenging and rewarding projects in the career of a museum professional. Challenging because of the variety of issues like leaking roofs, missing documentation and the question as to whether there is actually a floor underneath those piles of objects.

Rewarding because of the variety of new discoveries and the skills that are learned, along with the satisfying feeling of getting things done.

The process of securing the collection and making it accessible needs the mindset of a collections manager as well as the one of a project manager. This 4 week course helps you to get a grip on your unmanaged collection by developing a plan to tackle it, defining achievable goals by creating logical exits and finding ways to keep the project going even if you are limited in time, staff and money.

Materials for Exhibit, Moving and Storage course begins March 5 on MuseumStudy.com Are you using the best materials with your collections? What exactly does "archival" mean? How do you know the material you are using is acceptable? Join Science Museum of Minnesota Conservator Rebecca Newberry for this 4 week course. Evaluating Interpretive Exhibits course begins March 5 on MuseumStudy.com Exhibits are one of the most expensive of interpretive media we use, and yet one of the media that we often really don't know if "it works". We judge exhibits by their appearance rather than by their success in accomplishing meaningful objectives. We like to ask -if you spend

$10,000 on your exhibits, how will you determine if you're receiving

$10,000 in benefits from those exhibits? That's usually when we get the "deer in the headlights" stare.

Join professional interpreter John Ververka for this 4 week online course. It is the goal of this course to give you some simple tools for doing evaluations of, or critiquing exhibits. Some tools for critiquing existing exhibits - to see if they are accomplishing their objectives and may be in need of rehabilitation, and some for pre-post testing evaluation of exhibits first being designed to see if they are accomplishing their objectives prior to final construction so they can be "fixed" to be more effective.

Join instructor Robert Waller for the first in a series of courses on Risk to Cultural Property. This introductory course provides a firm foundation on which to build an understanding of risk-based approaches to cultural property protection.

Vitrines : de la conception au contrôle qualité
27-28 mars 2018
