Around “grey areas.” The issue is called To Curate or Not to Curate: Surprises, Remorse, and Archaeological Grey Area and may be found here: https://journals.sagepub.com/toc/cjxa/17/1<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fjournals.sagepub.com%2Ftoc%2Fcjxa%2F17%2F1&data=04%7C01%7CHawksC%40si.edu%7Ca654bfc429eb407c6cf608da1af677c8%7C989b5e2a14e44efe93b78cdd5fc5d11c%7C0%7C0%7C637851943287813428%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=tWW9DGFP8O0Chff90kXo9jWcZlDjvxP7XlTppN7SIUc%3D&reserved=0>.

The issue was guest-edited by Gwenn Gallenstein of the NPS—who serves as Museum Curator and NAGPRA Coordinator for the Flagstaff Area National Monuments— and S. Terry Childs, retired from the Department of the Interior Museum Program and a long-time Board Member, who retired from that role a few years ago.

As it is now the “Sample Issue,” that means free access for all. Encourage colleagues interested in what is collected from archaeological sites, what is left behind, and how collecting decisions are made by both archaeologists and curators — whether their own work is in the American context or not—will enjoy these articles.

Happy reading!

-develop content for 2023 focus issues. Several ideas proposed.
-develop language around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion – launching working group in summer 2022. If you are interested in working on this, let me know.

Dear colleagues,

I hope this email finds you well and healthy.

This email is your invitation to convene as the Editorial Board of Collections at the beginning of February 2022. Realizing we have many time zones represented, we will host two meetings, as we did last year.
Wednesday, Feb 2, 2022 at 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM ET

Tuesday, Feb 8, 2022 at 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM ET

Everyone will receive invitations to both sessions, just to assist in calendar review. Please come to the one that fits best. We will also record the meeting, for you to view another time.

Before the Editorial Board meeting, please access the online journal and our submission site. You can do this by logging in to here: https://journals.sagepub.com/home/cjx<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fjournals.sagepub.com%2Fhome%2Fcjx&data=04%7C01%7CHawksC%40si.edu%7Ca654bfc429eb407c6cf608da1af677c8%7C989b5e2a14e44efe93b78cdd5fc5d11c%7C0%7C0%7C637851943287813428%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=H6rsRo6unsFJNhyYbzO0JcrnUCCqL%2F2bjqGxxqJPhdM%3D&reserved=0> (the journal access site) and here: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cjx<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmc.manuscriptcentral.com%2Fcjx&data=04%7C01%7CHawksC%40si.edu%7Ca654bfc429eb407c6cf608da1af677c8%7C989b5e2a14e44efe93b78cdd5fc5d11c%7C0%7C0%7C637851943287813428%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=xP1onDLqHUDAaDHoVt%2BITUVnGuF%2Fo6LMPDHQLNT6Kpk%3D&reserved=0> (the submission system for peer review). Use your email address, and then click “forget password.” If you can access the site, then you’re all set. If you cannot access, let me know and I will follow up.

Your current resources are on our Google Drive, as well.

As with last year’s meeting, an agenda will be sent in advance.

One of our goals with the meeting is to cultivate focus issue ideas. This year, we will strive to road map our list of topics and move forward. I would also like to address how we might develop a more robust attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will, also, have time to share updates and socialize.

Other agenda items welcome.
Thank you, all! Take care, and see you in 2022!
Juilee
