Sarah,
Have you used TLS (https://www.tlsprinting.com/specimen-tags) before for
fluid preserved specimens? They hold up very well and are customized to
your needs with museum acronyms and specific series of numbers.
I have also printed labels in the past from a Datamax printer, and punched
holes to attach the label to specimens. Depending upon the amount of
information you desire on the label, that route allows you customize any
details desired on your thermal transfer label.
