Hi Max,
The Community Standards for 3D Data Preservation (CS3DP) group- which
brought together researchers, librarians, legal experts, and method
specialists- hosted a wonderful series of conferences on many of
these issues. The work culminated in an open access book- *3D Data
Creation to Curation: Community Standards for 3D Data Preservation*
<https://www.ala.org/sites/default/files/acrl/content/publications/booksanddigitalresources/digital/9780838939147_3D_OA.pdf>
.
The conference recordings and presentations are archived here
<https://iro.uiowa.edu/esploro/search/outputs?query=any,contains,cs3dp&page=1&scope=Research&institution=01IOWA_INST&mfacet=facet_academic_unit,include,01IOWA_INST___4300z1,1>
.
There is also a google group
<https://groups.google.com/g/community-standards-for-3d-data-preservation-cs3dp>
for
ongoing discussions related to 3D data.

I'm happy to chat more about details.
