[Nhcoll-l] Burial of embryos

Dear all,

I was wondering whether anyone had experience with the burial of human embryos.

In short, in our zoological collection, at the Arctic University Museum of Norway, we have one jar with three human embryos.

Their origins? Questionable. We have no information except for a date (1941) and some writing in German. We suspect it might come from a Nazi encampment, but we cannot say for certain. No one knows who donated or brought the jar into the collection. It is a mystery.

We would like to lay these embryos to rest, and we are wondering how and if this can be done.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I have contacted our national ethics committee in Norway, but they could not help me unfortunately.

Kind regards,

Vanessa
