[Personal_archives] SISPA Minutes & news

Hello all,

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer so far. The ACA in Regina
went quite well, even though there wasn't a great deal of content relating
to Personal Archives - except for the SISPA meeting, naturally.

The minutes of the meeting have now been posted courtesy of the new SISPA

but lively meeting and we had a very nice discussion.

My thanks to outgoing secretary Heather Dean for her work over the years,
which included setting up this listserv.

Heather D is no longer at Yale, the kind host of this list. While she has
let me know that we can continue to use it for the short-term, the SISPA
list should find itself a new home.

Does anyone have the ability to set up a new listserv at their institution?
If not, I have looked into a few free listserv options and it looks like
Google Groups might be the best candidate; it certainly seems to becoming
increasingly popular among archivists (AABC just moved their list over to
GoogleGroup, the Catholic Archivist Group just set one up as well).

Please let me know if you can set up a list on SISPA's behalf or if you
have an alternative to Google by the end of July. Hearing nothing, I will
set up a Google Group and sent out instructions to join in early August.

Lastly, I'd like to remind people that they should be thinking about
submitting Personal Archives-related paper or sessions for ACA2016 in
Montreal. The theme is Archives & Innovation & the CfP can be found here:

I don't think there was a single paper at this year's conference dealing
with personal archives and that is certainly a situation I don't want to
see repeated.

If you have idea for a paper or panel and would like to coordinate a
session with others in the group, please feel free to use this list to make
it happen!

The session could be titled something as simple as "Innovative Approaches
to Personal Archives", which would allow several of you to discuss how you
have been handling personal papers in all their wonderful forms. Let me
know if you have any questions about the Call or if I can assist in any way
in bringing people together.
