Hello friends and colleagues,

Please circulate the following announcement regarding a series of films on memory, trauma, and neuroscience, sponsored by the Film and Media Studies Dept, the Wu Tsai Institute, and the English Department at Yale University.

The filmmakers will be present to discuss and answer questions about their work. All are welcome.

"See Memory" (18 min) a film by Viviane Silvera, Oct. 12, 6:30pm, L02, HQ
 A stop motion film made out of 10,000 painting stills. The film explores how our memories define who we are, how we remember, and the inextricable link between memory and imagination.."

"Secondary Dominance" (90 min) a film by Sarah Small & Wade McCollum, Oct. 17th, 6:30pm Loria Center, Room 250
A hybrid biographical expression / auto-fiction documentary / long-form music video that explores trauma's cellular imprint from a place where art and science intersect. A neuroscientist invites artist, Sarah Small, to speak at a conference on PTSD, trauma, and the brain. During her talk, she reads a letter she wrote to her childhood sexual abuser, igniting a dance-and-music-centric journey into her psychological landscape, illustrating the non-linearity of memory and transformation. *Please note: the content in this film includes references to sexual abuse.
