About the Speaker: Professor Carolina Sartorio, a distinguished philosopher with a PhD from MIT and a BA from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is currently affiliated with Rutgers University. Her expertise spans across metaphysics, the philosophy of action, and ethics. Talk Abstract: I outline a view of free will in terms of the actual causes of our actions. I motivate the view as a natural extension of the widely accepted causalist conception of action. I also explain the difference between this view and the "classical" model of free will in terms of alternative possibilities.
