Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a new podcast series from iBiology about navigating milestones in mentoring relationships. The episodes feature interviews with WTI Center Director, Daniel Colón-Ramos, as well as myself, and many other people whom I consider role models and inspirations on the topic of mentoring. The podcast might be helpful for yourself or some of your own mentees.

Please take a listen and if you can, share your thoughts with the producers, so they can continue to improve content geared towards early career scientists.

Best,

Giovanna

Subject: New Podcast! Advice, Tools & Skills for Mentor-Mentee Relationships

Dear Giovanna and Nathan,

We are very excited to share that we have just released the audio podcast for research trainees where you were a guest! We are so happy with the result. It is Episode 2 in the series, "Crossroads Ahead: Strategies to Successfully Transition Through Career Stages."

The podcast is called “The Trainee Podcast: Build Your Research Community<https://courses.ibiology.org/catalog/TTP/SP/>,” and it follows up on our “Build Your Research Community<https://courses.ibiology.org/catalog/BYRC/SP/>” online course. This podcast provides concrete advice and strategies to address common issues between primary research advisors and mentees.

In case it is useful, we’ve included below an email you can forward to your trainees. We are releasing the podcast on our courses platform first so that listeners can give us immediate feedback on each episode, the survey is just below each episode. (Educators looking for resources are also welcome to listen to the podcast and give us feedback via the surveys!) In several months (fall?), we are planning to release it on the standard podcast platforms. We will let you know when that happens.

Best,

Alex

The Trainee Podcast: Build Your Research Community

Are you trying to navigate an issue with your research advisor? Do you wonder sometimes what your PI is thinking? Or maybe just interested in leveling up your effectiveness at working with your PI? This podcast<https://courses.ibiology.org/catalog/TTP/SP/> is for you!

Listen to the audio trailer<https://youtu.be/1uJyKFZfCkc> to hear about the podcast from its producers:

[cid:ii_on4pveanzj16]<https://youtu.be/1uJyKFZfCkc>

In this podcast you get

  * 7 short episodes on working better with your PI and navigating sticky mentor-mentee issues
  * 12 fantastic expert guests providing guidance and strategies to build a great relationship with your PI
  * Insight into what your PI might be thinking at critical times in your training career

And unlike most podcasts, because we are premiering it on our iBiology Courses platform, you will be able to tell us what you think IMMEDIATELY after listening to each episode! We know this isn’t the normal way to listen to podcasts, but it is so important to us to hear from you what you think, so on each episode page you’ll find a feedback survey. It’s not the most convenient way to listen to a podcast, but please give it a chance so we can hear what you think! (And our funders will be super happy too!)
