Stephen Dobyns, one of today's most prolific and talented writers, is
coming to campus this Thursday for two events:

Thursday, October 30:

4 PM for a Branford Master's Tea
in the BR Master's House, 74 High St.
(Reading, discussion of his craft, q&a)

8 PM for a Writing Workshop
in the Branford Common Room, corner of York and Elm
(Pen and paper recommended)

Winner of numerous writing awards and fellowships including the Melville
Cane Award and the National Poetry Series, Stephen Dobyns has published 11
books of poetry and 20 novels, as well as numerous essays and short
stories. His works, including Common Carnage, Cemetery Nights, and, most
recently, The Porcupine Kisses, have been translated into more than ten
languages.

"We are the creatures who rush forward

on narrow roads toward darkness.
What do we lose? It is our own lives
that fall away on the roads behind us."

         Stephen Dobyns, from "Headlong Rush"

See you Thursday!
Diana

P.S. If any of you are interested in taking Mr. Dobyns out to dinner after
