Please join us for a poetry reading by Lisa Steinman TODAY, April 13 at 4
pm at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, 121 Wall Street. Yale
graduate student Karin Roffman will introduce the poet. A reception will
follow; this event is free and open to the public. For additional

Poet-critic Lisa Steinman is the author of scholarly books including Made
In America: Science, Technology, and American Modernist Poets and Masters
of Repetition: Poetry, Culture, and Work in Thomson, Wordsworth, Shelley,
and Emerson, and of five books of poetry: Lost Poems; All That Comes To
Light; A Book Of Other Days; Ordinary Songs; and most recently Carslaw's
Sequences. Steinman received the Oregon Book Award for A Book Of Other Days
in 1993 and Ordinary Songs was a nominee for the same prize in 1997;
Carslaw's Sequences was a finalist for the Tampa Review Prize for Poetry in
2003. She has received grants and awards from the Rockefeller Foundation,
the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the
Humanities. Steinman is Kenan Professor of English and Humanities at Reed
College in Portland, Oregon.
