>Breaking Silence through Poetry, the story of her interaction with a 
>psychiatric patient she met during her work in a hospital outside New York 
>City.

>When she first met the patient, he was a young man in a locked psychiatric 
>ward, who had given up speaking six years before. During the course of 
>their two-year poetic exchange, they composed 180 poems together by 
>passing a pad of paper back and forth and he began to speak again.

>Harold Bloom calls Land of Stone “a poignantly eloquent narrative.” 
>Chase’s poems have appeared The New Yorker and The New Republic, and have 
>been anthologized in The Norton Introduction to Literature, The Norton
