Poet Tom Chandler and fiction writer Ellen Litman read from their work Wed, March 31st at 8 p.m in the English Common Room, Engleman D253, Southern Connecticut State University.
Chandler is former poet laureate of Rhode Island. He has been named Phi Beta Kappa poet at Brown University and has been a featured poet at the Robert Frost homestead. Garrison Keillor has read Tom's poems on NPR. He is the author of five books of poetry, most recently Toy Firing Squad. His work has been published in Poetry, Boulevard, The New York Quarterly and many other places. He teaches at Bryant University and is the founder and editor of the Bryant Literary Review.
Ellen Litman is the author of The Last Chicken in America, a finalist for the 2007 Los Angeles Times Art Seidenhaum Award for First Fiction and the 2008 New York Public Library Young Lions Award. Her work has appeared in Best New American Voices, Best of Tin House and elsewhere. A native of Moscow, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1992. She currently teaches at the University of Connecticut where she is co-director of the Creative Writing Program.
