Please join the Graduate Poets Reading Series Thursday, April 16, at 8:00pm in LC 319 for our final event of the year: a reading by Canadian poet Sina Queyras, who will be joining us from Montreal. We are also very pleased to announce that Sina will be joined by grad poet readers Edgar Garcia (Department of English) and Claire Schwartz (Departments of African American and American Studies). Sina Queyras grew up on the road in Western Canada, and has since lived in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia, and Calgary. She is the author of the poetry collections Someone from the Hollow (1995); Slip (2001); Teethmarks (2004); Lemon Hound (2006), which received the Pat Lowther Award and a Lambda Literary Award; Expressway (2009); and MxT (2014), a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Poetry. She is also the author of a collection of essays, 2010's Unleashed, as well as the acclaimed novel Autobiography of Childhood (2011). Since 2005, she has played a crucial role as founder and editor-in-chief of the blog Lemon Hound, which has provided an important forum for discussion of, among others, Canadian feminist, queer, and first nations poetries.

Claire Schwartz is a PhD student in African American Studies and American Studies. Her research focuses on urban space in contemporary Afrodiasporic poetry and visual arts. Her poetry has appeared journals including: Cream City Review, Front Porch Journal, poemmemoirstory, andTuesday; An Art Projec

Edgar Garcia is graduating from the PhD in English here at Yale in May to begin a position as Neubauer Assistant Professor of English at the University of Chicago next year. His poems have appeared in print and digital venues such as Big Bridge, Damn the Caesars, and

Mandorla. Over the summer, he plans to dedicate time to an ongoing fictional ethnography surrounding anthropogenic climate interference, titled "Partial Animals."
