We warmly invite you to a very special installment of the Yale Graduate Poets Reading Series on Tuesday, November 10, at 7:00pm in Linsly-Chittenden Hall, Room 211, for a poetry reading by Yale Professor of English J. D. McClatchy. Professor McClatchy will be reading from his recently published collection Plundered Hearts: New and Selected Poems—which provides a survey of his aurally and intellectually rich oeuvre from the last three decades. English graduate student Sam Huber will ​serve as Professor McClatchy's opening act.
J. D. McClatchy is the author of seven previous collections of poetry and of three collections of prose. He has edited numerous other books, including The Vintage Book of Contemporary American Poetry, and has written a number of opera libretti that have been performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala, and elsewhere. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, where he served as president from 2009 to 2012. McClatchy teaches at Yale University and is editor of The Yale Review.
Sam Huber is a first-year graduate student in English at Yale University. As an undergraduate at Yale he studied poetry with Louise Glück and fiction with Michael Cunningham. He is a books columnist for Feministing, and his criticism can be found online at Bookforum, The Brooklyn Rail, Lambda Literary, and elsewhere.
