Yale Public Humanities presents...Judith Stein: Reading, Conversation, Film Screening

This Thursday Feb 2 at 6:00 in LC 211 we will screen a long lost film about Green gallery owner Dick Bellamy (28 min.) and then Judith Stein, author of Eye of the Sixties, will have a conversation with creative writing director, Richard Deming, about Bellamy and the 1960s New York art scene that Bellamy helped to create--subjects of Stein's recent book Eye of the Sixties (FSG, 2016).

Judith E. Stein is a writer and independent curator. Join us for a screening of a short (28 min.)  film on Richard Bellamy & conversation with Richard Deming and Judith Stein. Stein's new book, Eye of the Sixties: Richard Bellamy and the Transformation of Modern Art, earned a Warhol Foundation/Creative Capital Arts Writers Grant. Among her honors is a Pew Foundation Fellowship in the Arts in literary non-fiction; an Award for Best Catalogue, International Art
Critics Association, American Section, for I Tell My Heart: The Art of Horace Pippin; and a writing residency at the Rockefeller Foundation, Bellagio, Italy. For the last thirty years, her features and reviews have appeared in Art in America and Art News, as well as in The New York Times Book Review, and Ms. She is a former arts reviewer for National Public Radio's Fresh Air and Morning Edition. A graduate of Barnard College, she earned a doctorate in art history from
the University of Pennsylvania.
