Dear NACO catalogers,

Those of you who create series authority records will be interested in this
e-mail exchange with Judy Kuhagen of the Library of Congress. Read from
bottom to top.

Manon,
I think the tradition is that the page opposite the analytical
t.p. takes precedence by its location. 670 locations sound
appropriate.
			Thanks, Judy

Dear Judy--

A cataloger here has asked me a question that seems very basic but I cannot
find an answer in my documentation.

The series title page is defined as either one of two locations: the page
opposite the analytical t.p. or the page in the position of the half-title.
What if one has a series statement in both of these locations (and they
vary)? Is one location given a higher priority or is it just cataloger's
judgment? Example:

--page in half-title position has brief form of title plus numbering: Aportes 3
--page facing mon. t.p. has fuller form of title and name of series editor
but no numbering: Coleccion Aportes

Also, since we will be citing both forms in the 670, what do you think
would be the best way to cite the two locations? Series title leaf recto
and series title leaf verso???

Many thanks,

Manon
