NACO catalogers,
Forwarding a notice from LC on the availability of updates to the DCMZ1
Manual ("yellow pages") and the LC Guidelines Supplement to the MARC 21
Authorities Format ("blue pages"). These updates have been posted to the
NACO home page in PDF form for the sake of those who need replacement pages
for printed copies. They will also be published electronically in
Cataloger's Desktop in August. The URL is:
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco/z1update-apr05.pdf
LC also posted the text of the entire 667 section from DCMZ1 because
discrepancies were discovered among the versions held by different
libraries: http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/naco/667-revapr2005.pdf
Nothing too earthshattering in the updates but you might want to look them
over (revisions are indicated by vertical lines in the right-hand margin).
The list of ambiguous entities ("division of the world") has been added as
an appendix and has a few additions. The National Library of Canada is now
called Library and Archives, Canada (LAC). The "blue pages" now have a page
for the 024 field (saying we're not supposed to use this field).
