Dear NACO catalogers,

Yesterday I sent two messages about how to use an "Online Constant
Data" record to create a new series authority record. One of the
messages was about how to set a *default* Online Constant Data
record. The other message was about how to *apply* this default
Online Constant Data record to a blank workform. [We are using Online
Constant Data records for new SARs because the regular series
workform does not automatically supply CtY in the 64X fields.]

Now, if you are a MacroExpress user, I'm happy to report that there
is an even easier way to create a new SAR! Steven Arakawa and Rick
Sarcia have created a MacroExpress macro that allows you to create a
new series from scratch using the keystroke <CTRL-S>. Instructions are below:

1. Make sure you have the MacroExpress program loaded. The macro
won't work otherwise. Talk to your expert user if you don't have
MacroExpress and would like to use the series macro.

2. Make sure you have set your *default* Online Constant Data record.
The macro won't work unless you have completed this step:
http://www.library.yale.edu/cataloging/authorities/oclc/SetDefaultConstantData.doc

3. Download the new macro from PCAmigo and import it into your master
MacroExpress file using these instructions (or ask your expert user
to do it for you):
http://www.library.yale.edu/cataloging/macroexpress/macxyaletip6.html

4. When you are done, type <CTRL-S> in OCLC Connexion and watch as a
blank workform is automatically opened up and your constant data is
automatically applied (like magic!)

5. Fill in the workform and save your new SAR to the Online Save File
as normal.
