Hello all-

Many catalogers have now completed the RDA NACO tutorials, and I encourage those who have to begin to formulate RDA headings so we can start the review process with the Library of Congress and the YUL can work towards gaining institutional independence. Some guidelines for submitting RDA NARs for review follow:

Create the NAR in OCLC and add it to the online save file as you normally would. Do not select the "Submit for review..." option from the Action menu.

Once you are sufficiently satisfied with the NAR that you've formulated and want to have it submitted for review, send a message containing the 1XX and the save file number to the yulnaco list. This will allow others to familiarize themselves with RDA NARs and will also allow for suggestions for edits.

I'll issue a last call for comments a couple of days before sending a batch of NARs to LC, after which I will submit them for review and send a message to the list with the headings that have been sent. When I hear back from LC I will forward our reviewer's comments to the list. I'll go ahead and produce any headings that are approved by LC and do not require any further action, and will again notify the list when I've done that.

The maximum number of headings we can send for review per week is 25, and right now I'm planning to send a batch to LC every other week. I can adjust that schedule as needed depending on the number of NARs we generate, we can see how that goes.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
--Rick
