Hello everyone,

The ArchivesSpace index is rebuilding with the restored database, but it looks as though there are some data inconsistencies as a result.  For expediency’s sake, we have temporarily shut down the application at 12:15pm today, and will restore the index placed into production yesterday.  We anticipate the system will be available before 1pm and I will update the list when it is back online.

The ArchivesSpace restore is now complete and the application is available to users across special collections.

In an effort to get several new instances of ArchivesSpace online to remediate performance issues, a user error occurred and one of my staff accidentally kicked off a process in the production ArchivesSpace database that deleted a good portion of the data.  Unfortunately, one of the recommendations to improve performance from Hudson Molonglo included scaling back our hourly database backups to once a day, which was implemented soon after their report was issued in early July.  The last known good backup comes from Sunday, 7/26 at 7pm.  Any data entered into the system from Monday and Tuesday morning has been lost.

We sincerely apologize for this error.  In order to limit potential data loss going forward we will implement a 4 times a 24 hour period backup routine so we have more recent snapshots available should we need to restore again in the future.
