[Yale ArchivesSpace] Daily update from Library IT on ArchivesSpace performance

Hello Everyone,

Library IT continues to focus on eliminating potential bottlenecks with the ArchivesSpace system. We have reviewed the process from the point of connection/login, through creating and updating data. We continue to meet each day with members of the ArchivesSpace Implementation Committee, so everyone is up to date on actions being taken/recommended.

Thanks to folks for reporting problems with the AS application via Service Now. Library IT is receiving these and responding to them. The screenshots folks have included are helpful.

You might wonder what are we doing to try and figure out performance issues, or how we constructively rule out one component over another. Application knowledge is often helpful, in addition to reviewing the standard elements of the infrastructure in place. This includes the Yale network, a MySQL back end, reviewing how servers perform load balancing, and what settings are locally configurable and which best remain a "factory" default.

I am including a screen shot of New Relic, which we use to monitor AS performance. We can look at what is happening throughout the day and across the days, to mark changes and collect the equivalent of a patient history. What does ArchivesSpace like to eat and drink? Does it have time to go to the gym?

Well, all this to say, Library IT is working hard to help make ArchivesSpace perform as required. Thank you for your contributions, and your patience as we see this through to resolution.
