You are invited to attend the *

*

*ACLTS CRS* *Research Libraries Discussion Group*

on Saturday, June 28 2008, 10.30am-12.00pm at the Disneyland Hotel,

Dreams D.

*1. Nuts and Bolts of a Serials Retrospective Batch Load Project with

OCLC. *

*Presenter: Xaoli Li (Head of Serials Dept., University of California,

Davis)*

**In 2006, the Serials Department of Shields Library at the University

of California, Davis, launched a retrospective batch load project with

OCLC to convert over 32,000 RLIN serials records. The presenter will

provide an overview of the project and discuss issues and implications

for the University of California pilot of OCLC WorldCat Local.

*2. Project TRANSFER.*

*Presenters: Yvette Diven (Ulrich's Product Manager at Serials

Solutions) and Beth Bernhardt (Electronic Journals / Document Delivery

Librarian, University of North Carolina at Greensboro)*

Journal transfers between publishers can present special challenges in

the electronic environment that affect not only the publishers involved

but librarians, intermediaries, and the end-users of scholarly

information. The presenters will talk about the important work of the

UKSG's TRANSFER initiative, established in April 2006, from a

publisher's and librarian's perspective.

3. RDA and the cataloging of reproductions, facsimiles and microforms.

*Presenter: Steve Knowlton (Library Holdings Analyst with the UMI

Division of ProQuest)*

**The emphasis will be on the ways that the FRBR model informs

cataloging of reproductions, and how RDA expresses that model.

Hope to see you there!
