Subject: ACRL/NEC Annual Conference Program - Serials and Electronic Resources Interest Group

The Serials and Electronic Resources Interest Group (SERIG) of ACRL/New England Chapter is planning a program to be presented at the ACRL/NEC annual spring conference on May 14, 2010, at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

A topic that has been suggested is "Cataloging emerging electronic resources." The idea here is to address cataloging issues for things like streaming media, digital objects, digital music files, and other kinds of electronic formats that may present cataloging challenges. We would really appreciate participation of our members in helping to plan this program:


1.       What do you think of this topic? Would you come to such a program? If you think this is a great idea, can you give us any names of people who would be good speakers on this topic, or are we talking about you and you would like to speak on this topic?

2.       If you think we could do better on a topic relating to serials and/or electronic resources, what would that be? What is a burning issue for cataloging serials and/or electronic resources (or a non-cataloging topic) that you would like to hear about? Do you have any suggestions for people who would be great speakers on this topic?

We would especially like to have speakers from our own New England region, if possible, but we are glad to hear about any great speakers that you know of.
