Applies only to SML cataloging workflow.
I sent this out earlier on the CMS list, but it's my understanding that other SML units are following the policy, so I am now forwarding on YULCAT.

CMS: if you have any Mudd serial titles sent from SST to reclass from Old Yale to LCC upon receipt of the current issue--check the MFHD to see if the title in hand has been canceled in favor of an e-journal. When the print contin has been canceled, we don't want a single volume of the set in SML LCC--send it back to SST for adding under the Old Yale number. I will update the documentation.
If there is no indication that the print run has been canceled, follow the default instructions and reclass from Old Yale to LCC.

Subject: Reclass Workflow for Currently Received Mudd Serials - Clarification
Rich and Steven,
I've been working with Larry Martins and Pat Simon regarding the Reclass Workflow for Currently Received Mudd Serials.
In processing such items, two (2) represent the final volume of the periodical title to be bound since the print version has been cancelled in favor of the electronic. These titles are -
1. LAW AND CONTEMPORARY PROBLEMS, V 71, 2008
MUDD N10 R598 V.45 2008
2. SOCIAL SCIENCE JOURNAL, V.45, 2008
MUDD P50 L41 V.71: NO.3-4 2008 OVERSIZE
Had the Library continue to receive the print version, these periodical titles would have been reclassed. Since they are the last to be bound, should the investment in reclassification be made? In addition to the CMS work, the LARS template would need to be revised by SST. In the end, each would be a single volume sitting on a shelf in SML.
There is a note in the record that the print version has been cancelled, and this note is available to SST Staff Members at the time when they are binding the volume.
Would it be more economical to bind the title with its current Old Yale Classification and send it directly to the LSF?
In the case of LAW AND CONTEMPORARY PROBLEMS, early bound volumes of the periodical have already been sent to the LSF.
Thanks for considering my question. Looking forward to your reply.-marcia
