Records cataloged according to RDA rules will begin to appear in OCLC in October as part of a nationwide test involving the Library of Congress and selected libraries in all categories (school, public, college, research). These RDA records will have some obvious differences from current cataloging. There will also be small differences that may look like errors but which actually result from changes in the rules. This one hour session is intended for staff working with cataloging copy. The session will provide basic information about RDA, focusing on significant differences from AACR2 from a cataloging perspective. At the end of the session, you should be able to identify records cataloged according to RDA including some noteworthy differences from current cataloging, and also current YUL policies for processing these records.

Training will be in SML Rm 332. Dates: Oct. 12 (Tuesday), 2:00-3:00; Oct. 14 (Thursday), 2:00-3:00; Oct. 15 (Friday) 10:30-11:30. Note that there is a maximum of 10 people per session.

PS: I scheduled the room for 1.5 hours to be safe, but I don't expect to go beyond an hour.
