WW&DCS is pleased to announce that the Web Developers Drop In Sessions
are returning as a continuing service. There are several changes
outlined below to make it more effective.
-There are now 8 half-hour one-on-one 'slots' each month on a first
come, first served basis. These sessions are meant to help people with
specific problems and/or schedule time with the appropriate 'expert' for
help with more advanced web work. They are not formal classes and are
meant for task-specific assistance.
-Once these spots are filled up, you will be put on a waiting list or
given first priority the following month.
-Rescheduling policy: you are allowed to reschedule your time once in a
given month. A second cancellation will require you to sign up next
month to let people on the waiting list a chance to attend.
Appointments need to be scheduled in advance via e-mail to Pedro Soto
(pedro.soto at yale.edu). Please include in your request the day and time
you’d like to book and the topic you need help with.
Knowing the topics in advance will help us make sure the right people
are available to assist you.
Possible issues appropriate to a one-on-one session such as this include:
How can I utilize the Library templates?
How can I design and layout my site to make it more user friendly?
How can I effectively use tables?
How can I use style sheets or Dreamweaver templates?
How do I create an e-mail form?
How can I make my page compliant with the Library guidelines?
Who may attend?
Web developers charged with creating web pages for their department or
other official Library projects. These sessions do not provide help for
personal web pages.
Please email me at pedro.soto at yale.edu to arrange a time or if you have
any questions.
