MCDOUGAL FELLOWS' TIPS OF THE WEEK

  * ERIN'S COMMUNITY SERVICE TIP OF THE WEEK
Interested in mentoring high school students, but can't make room in
your hectic schedule? Check out the electronic mentoring program at
Stratford High School. Mentors are matched with a student and give
advice and insight through weekly email responses. Contact
hewittc at stratfordk12.org for more information.

  * PATRICIA'S COMMUNITY SERVICE TIP OF THE WEEK
Like extinct creatures? Check out Dinosaur Days at The Peabody
Museum in New Haven. Running from February 16 to 21, this fun
celebration includes many opportunities to volunteer to help with
fossil digs, arts and crafts, etc. Contact david.heiser at yale.edu for
more information.

  * CAITIE'S ARTS AND CULTURE TIP OF THE WEEK
For those interested in checking out the Long Wharf sometime soon,
there's an update to the schedule. Theresa Rebeck's light comedy "Bad
Dates" is replacing Fiona Evans' "Scarborough" in the Long Wharf
Theatre's 2008-2009 season. Artistic director Gordon Edelstein
describes "Bad Dates" as "a much beloved, warm hearted and comic look
at middle-aged romance and the perils of dating."

  * MARKUS AND MEISHA'S TIP OF THE WEEK
In honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous
naturalist, Charles Darwin, the Yale Center for British Art is
hosting the "Endless forms": Charles Darwin, Natural Science and the
Visual Arts exhibition. It explores "the impact of Darwin's most
important theories on visual artists of the late nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries". The exhibition will run until May 3. Be sure to
check it out! For more information, visit
http://ycba.yale.edu/index.asp

  * ELIZABETH AND ELIZABETH'S HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK
Everyone realizes that you need plenty of water to perform well in
the summertime, but the same applies when the weather turns cold.
Since dry, heated indoor air can be even more dehydrating than warm
sunshine, drinking enough is still a must.

  * MCDOUGAL'S COMMUNITY SERVICE TIP OF THE WEEK
If you're interested in volunteering for a pro-choice event, Planned
Parenthood needs you on February 18th from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at 345
Whitney Avenue. Volunteers can either work the phonebank or help out
as needed. Dinner is provided. Or, if you prefer to volunteer for a
pro-life group, you can email the Pro-Life Ministry at the Franciscan
Life Center at info at prolifeministry.org and they can tell you more!

  * JAMIE'S ARTS AND CULTURE TIP OF THE WEEK
The Yale Symphony, the New Haven Symphony, the Yale Bookstore, and
the many art galleries around the downtown area are only the tip of
the iceberg. Check out the McDougal Center Student Life and Arts and
Culture calendar for updates about the many arts events going on every
week.
