Hi Karen

Given that we now have exemption for natural history specimens from most dangerous good regulations (letters of interpretation from DOT and USPS and SP A180 for international shipments) there is no need to pay for training anymore.  The only training that you will require is packing training in order to pack the specimens according to 49 CFR 173.4 and IATA 2.7.  Packing training can be self-taught (nothing to it really) and thus there is no need to go out and spend any money on this.

I have attached an article that I have just written for the SPNHC newsletter that outlines SP A180 and the numerous benefits that it affords.  I would be happy to fill in any gaps or answer any further questions.

Dear all,
Can anyone recommend some reputable training companies for hazmat shipping and handling? I need training in packing, labeling, naming, documentation and shipping via air.  I have found some online classes, which I prefer, but it is hard to tell whether they are reputable.
Any guidance would appreciated,
