Hello all,
Our university has recently purchased Insight software and we are just now
beginning to sort through various questions regarding implementation. I'm
hoping your experiences can help to guide us as we begin this project.
I am curious as to what others are doing regarding adding images into the
database without violating copyright. We are exploring the purchasing of
various slide collections and paying the extra fee to digitize. We are also
exploring the idea of subscribing to an image database that is compatible
inside of Insight. Do any of you use a subscription database that is
compatible with Insight? If so, can you import the metadata from the
subscription database or must this be entered by hand? Are there other
methods you are using to display images without violating copyright?
I was also curious as to what others are using as their standard metadata
structure? We are hoping to make this database interdisciplinary and thus
are concerned that the VRA structure may not serve someone in the History
Department as well as the Art Department. Any insight (no pun intended)
into either of these matters would be most greatly appreciated!
Thanks much,
Verletta
